    Description

Quick note:  I've been getting some questions along the lines of "will this fit my piano".  I certainly don't mind questions and will be glad to help with some additional information.  I've added a photo showing and hopefully visually defining some of the measurements and angles involved.  The photo actually shows a vertical hammer but the principles involved are the same for grands.  Quantity of hammers in the bass section, bore distance and rake angle are probably the most important as they determine the strike point of the hammer.  Please read on and feel free to ask any questions you have, providing the number of hammers in the bass, bore distance and rake angle with any inquiries when possible.
Full set of NOS (New Old Stock) Renner hammers, used by the Baldwin factory on their Model M and Model R grands.  Baldwin ceased regular production in the Truman factory around 2010 so these hammers will be from prior to that time but are in new, factory sealed condition (except for the one I opened for the pics, which I'll be using in my shop or for odd replacements).  These will fit many other pianos as well, but not all - so please measure to be sure and feel free to ask questions as needed.  Hanging hammers is not impossible but is one of the more challenging aspects to piano servicing and rebuilding.  Dimensions and critical measurements are as follows:
    Hammer width - bass: 11mm; treble - 10.5mm
Overall hammer length - bass: 81mm; treble: 72mm
Bore distance: None, these hammers are unbored and well suited for a bore distance of around 1 7/8", plus or minus about 1/8".  A bore distance of 1 7/8" leaves about 1" tail.
    Bore angle - none, unbored
    Rake angle - none, unbored
Quantity in each section - Bass: total of 27; tenor & treble total: 66.  Any extra hammers low and high give a bit of flexibility for pianos with differing numbers of notes in sections.  If you have a piano with more notes in a particular section let me know and I'll see what we can do to supplement that section.
If you're a beginner: this is not for the faint of heart but at some point in the past

of us who rebuild pianos and hang hammers started with our first set of hammers.  You will definitely need a drill press and a fixture that allows you to precisely set the required dimensions but this is do-able.  I'm willing to send pictures of the fixtures we use if that helps.  If you mess up one or two (or a few...) I have broken sets and spares on hand and don't mind sending a few (free of charge, including domestic shipping) if you've bought the set from me.
I'm Howard Gustafson with Ragland Piano Company and I've serviced and rebuilt pianos and player pianos full time since 1985.  Your success with my products is very important to me and I'm glad to help before or after the sale.  I can be reached here through eBay and I include my contact info with each shipment.
